Ugh...it's been stressful lately

Well the last 2 weeks Tucker has been in-out-back in and back out of the hospital. On the 18th Tucker woke up with a high fever and was extremely cold. So we took him back to the ER. Well they did another CT scan and his sinus infection had broken through his skull and eye socket bone. They did emergency brain surgery to get the infection out of there and also went up his nose to get the infection in his eye socket.

He was in the hospital until the 24th. He had one day at home. The 25th he woke up and his eye was swollen shut so we took him back to the hospital. They had to do another surgery to drain the pus out of his eyelid. Then he spent another 2 days in the hospital.

He now has a PICC line and is on IV antibiotics for a month. He's feeling a lot better but this really scared me. This very easily could have been fatal and he's not out of the woods yet but I'm watching him like a hawk now. If I see an inkling of a problem I'll run him back up to the ER.

I'm so thankful that he's feeling better. He's been through a lot and has been such a little trooper. He's so brave about everything. Needless to say I plan on spoiling him for a while. He deserves it.

Took Tucker to the ER yesterday

The last couple of days Tucker has been complaining of a headache right behind his eyes and nose. We thought it was sinuses so we've been giving him ibuprofen and it's been helping.

Saturday night he got sick to his stomach a couple of times so we started watching him closer. Sunday morning he was sleeping in bed when I went to check on him. He was having trouble waking up so Kim and I took him to the ER. His temp was 103.7. The Dr's did all kinds of tests on him, including a CT scan, and found that he has a really bad sinus infection and the fever is likely what caused him to be lethargic. He was also dehydrated.

So they sent him home with some medicine. We're supposed to keep giving him ibuprofen, the antibiotics they gave us and keep him hydrated. He's doing a lot better today.

I'm so thankful to God that it isn't something serious. Talk about scary.

On the plus side the Bears won.

I do NOT have appendicitis

I had an interesting day Thursday. I thought I'd busted my hernia loose again so I told my Doctor. He sent me for a CT scan down at Fayetteville. Well, I had the CT scan and KIm and I were leaving. We were already in the car pulling out. Then I get a call from the radiology Dr saying she needs to talk to me.

Of course as a cancer survivor I immediately start thinking the worst. So we go back and she says that according to the CT scan I may have the beginning signs of appendicitis. She thought it was strange that both Kim and I breathed a sigh of relief. But she wanted me to go to the ER and have them look at it. So I go and both the ER doctor and the surgeon look at the CT scan and decide that while my appendix does look a bit discolored there's nothing that causes them to think that it's going to burst.

So they give me a clean bill of health and send me home. I'm thankful that nothing came of it and I'm glad they're being extra careful but what an experience. The nurses in the ER kept asking me why I was there and I told them I wasn't sure, I was sent there by the radiology dept.

Since I'm a disabled veteran I was at VA and the only thing it cost me was a couple of hours and a little bit of worry before I found out why I was sent there. I've had so many surgeries that they don't scare me. Had I needed my appendix out I would have just done and not thought twice about it. Yeah it'd suck and be painful but I'd rather deal with that anytime than deal with cancer again.

So all is back to normal, I'm home and I feel fine. Well my back and shoulder still hurt but those hurt all the time but no pain from my appendix area.

So I'm gonna get off of here....until next time.....Bye!!!!!

Well the Holidays have come and gone....

and we had a great Christmas. As usual Tucker had a blast. Santa brought him all kinds of good stuff. I got some tools, a new Swiss Army Knife and Tucker got me 2 rolls of ducktape!!!

We went up to my Mom's for Xmas day. My Grandmother was there so that was cool. It's been a while since I've seen her during Xmas. Kim's Mom was out of town so Kim, Tucker and I spent Xmas Eve alone at home. It was nice, we did the usual, we left chocolate milk and cookies for Santa and left some food outside for the reindeer.

Right before bed I read "The Night Before Christmas" and the Bible story of Jesus's birth from the Bible. And of course got up extra early Xmas morning. Tucker made sure of that. Oh well, the excitement of his face is about the coolest thing of being a parent.

New Years Eve we stayed home and played Mario Brothers on the Wii. We usually go up to my Mom's for New Year's Eve but we've all become addicted to that damn game.

On a sad note, the friggin Chiefs lost to the damn raiders. Ugh, I loathe the raiders. But at least we're going to the postseason and they're not so that makes me feel better.

So until next time.....BYE!!!!!!
